Do I need to live near you to work with you?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. I work with all clients online, so location is never a barrier to receiving support. Alongside women I see locally across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire, I work with clients throughout the rest of the UK and internationally, all via video call, so wherever you are in the world you get the same personalised hormone health and nutrition support.

Can a nutritionist really help balance my hormones?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Hormones respond directly to blood sugar, digestion, stress and sleep, so when we work on those foundations the hormonal picture usually starts to shift too. I use my 4P Hormone Balance Method, which looks at what's preparing your body for balance, what's processing through it, what's protecting your nervous system, and what's helping you perform, so we're never just treating one symptom in isolation.

A hormone specialist looks at the bigger picture behind your symptoms rather than treating each one separately. In practice that means a detailed case review of your health history, symptoms, lifestyle and diet, often alongside functional testing, so we can understand what's actually driving how you feel and build a plan around that, not a generic template.

I don't feel like myself anymore, could this be perimenopause?

It's one of the first things I consider, especially from the mid-thirties onwards. Perimenopause can start well before periods change, so symptoms like disrupted sleep, low mood, weight gain around the middle and brain fog often catch women off guard years before they'd expect it. Your symptoms are giving us clues, and it's worth getting them properly looked at rather than assuming it's “just stress” or “just getting older”.

What are the early signs of perimenopause?

The early signs are often subtle and easy to dismiss: heavier or more unpredictable periods, worse PMS than usual, disrupted sleep, low mood, joint aches, lower tolerance to alcohol, and a general sense that your body isn't responding the way it used to. Many women are told everything is “normal” at this stage, which is exactly why understanding what's driving these changes matters.

Can nutrition help with PMS or PMDD?

PMDD affects around 1 in 20 women, according to the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders, and it's rarely down to one single cause. Blood sugar balance, liver detoxification and gut health all affect how oestrogen and progesterone are processed, but the stress response system and how your nervous system handles the natural rise and fall of progesterone each month play just as big a role. We look at what's actually driving your pattern across all of these areas, since PMDD in particular needs a properly targeted plan rather than a generic approach to PMS.

It can, because fertility depends on the same underlying systems we work with everywhere else: blood sugar regulation, gut health, nutrient status and stress resilience. If you're trying to conceive, we look at what might be getting in the way and build a plan to support your body ahead of and during that process, working alongside your GP or fertility specialist rather than replacing that care.

I support women with the nutrition and lifestyle side of pregnancy, working alongside your conventional care. This usually means making sure your blood sugar, digestion and nutrient status are well supported through the changes your body is going through.

Yes, this is a large part of my clinical work. Hot flushes, night sweats, weight gain, low mood, joint pain and brain fog are all connected to shifting hormones, and there is a lot we can do through nutrition, movement and nervous system support to ease that transition. This is one of the most common things I see in clinic. Standard thyroid testing often only checks one or two markers, which can miss a fuller picture of what's going on. We look more broadly at the drivers that affect thyroid function, including nutrient status, stress and gut health, so nothing gets missed.

Yes, PCOS responds particularly well to a root-cause approach because it's so closely tied to blood sugar and insulin regulation. Once we understand your specific pattern of PCOS, whether it's more insulin-driven, inflammatory or stress-related, we can build a plan that addresses what's actually going on rather than generic advice that is often to “just lose weight”.

Nutrition can make a meaningful difference to endometriosis symptoms, particularly around inflammation, oestrogen clearance and gut health, all of which influence pain and flare-ups. I work alongside your gynaecology or specialist care to support you day to day, rather than as a replacement for medical treatment.

Why am I bloated, constipated, or dealing with diarrhoea even though I eat well?

Digestive symptoms are rarely just about what's on your plate. Hormones, stress, gut bacteria and how well you're digesting and absorbing food all play a part, and eating “well” on paper doesn't always mean your gut is working well in practice. We look at what's actually happening in your digestive system rather than guessing.

Why have I gained weight even though nothing about my diet has changed?

This is one of the most common frustrations I hear, and it's rarely about willpower. Shifting hormones, blood sugar regulation and stress all affect how and where your body stores fat, particularly from the mid-thirties onwards. Once we understand what's changed underneath the surface, the weight gain usually starts to make a lot more sense.

Can hormone imbalance cause brain fog and low mood?

Yes, both are extremely common and often connected to blood sugar swings, disrupted sleep and shifting oestrogen and progesterone levels. This isn't something you have to just live with. Once we address what's driving it, most women notice a real difference in mental clarity and mood.

Low libido is often a downstream symptom of hormonal, stress and energy imbalances rather than a standalone issue. Cortisol, oestrogen, progesterone and thyroid function all play a role, so rather than treating it in isolation, we look at what's happening more broadly in your body.

Can nutrition and exercise help with joint aches and low strength as I get older?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and this is where nutrition and movement work together. Oestrogen has a protective effect on joints and muscle, so as it declines, aches and loss of strength become more common. Combining hormone-aware nutrition with the right kind of strength, cardio and flexibility training makes a real difference, which is why I bring personal training into my client work alongside the nutrition side.

Thrive After 35 is a small group programme for women navigating perimenopause and menopause, giving you structure, education and support at a lower cost. Both use the same root-cause approach, just at different levels of personalisation.

Yes, functional testing is available either as part of a 1:1 programme or as a standalone test analysis service, which includes the test itself, a one-to-one appointment to go through your results, and a clear action plan.
